"You shall regard the foreigner who resides among you as a native-born, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt." (Leviticus 19:33-34)
 

Approximately 1,220,000-1,240,000 compatriots from the mainland have migrated to Hong Kong since 1997. Most of them come from grassroots families with relatively lower education levels. We have consistently engaged with them to gain a deeper understanding of their challenges. Economically, the majority of them experience highly unstable incomes, making it difficult to sustain their livelihoods. They also need to adapt to the differences in language, living environments, and culture while also caring for young children. As tensions between Hong Kong and the mainland, they are being labeled as exploiting social welfare resources and increasing societal burdens in Hong Kong. Entrusted with God’s love to care for the sojourners and the needy, Mission to New Arrivals see them as our neighbors whom we should love and cherish.

 

In order to address their needs, Mission To New Arrivals provides material support and assists them in adapting to life in Hong Kong. We partner with various churches and parachurch organizations to ensure that new arrivals from grassroots families receive the abundant salvation of Jesus Christ and we are encouraged to share the Gospel with their neighbors and compatriots.

 

Main work

 

- Gathering church and community resources to provide holistic care and service.

 

- Encourage churches to adopt and serve new arrivals with a cross-cultural missionary mindset, and further train them to become leaders so that they can carry out group planting work in the church.

 

- Organizing volunteer and employment training programs to help new arrivals adapt, integrate and give back to society.

 

- To foster a positive mindset among new arrivals to face the challenges of a new environment, enhancing their confidence and problem-solving abilities, and promoting a spirit of mutual support and encouragement.

 

- To promote a spirit of love for family and neighbors, establishing harmonious and loving family relationships.

 

- To provide the opportunity for new arrivals who come from grassroots families to know and receive the Gospel, allowing them to live abundant lives through service and witness for Christ.

 

Service Model: The ministry for new arrivals engages with the community through the following model to serve those in need.
